Thomas Dixon

Dr. Dixon joined the department in 2017. His publications include articles on divine judgment and mercy in Romans (2020, 2023), Martin Luther King Jr.’s treatment of Law in relation to Martin Luther (2021), King’s use of divine judgment imagery (2016), and epistemology in the Dead Sea Scrolls (2014). He has presented papers on Pauline Theology, Romans, and MLK at many academic conferences.

He also has a monograph appearing with Baylor University Press in 2024 entitled Paul and the Wrath: Divine Judgment and Mercy for Israel in Romans 9–11. This book examines Paul’s often misunderstood conception of divine wrath and mercy, as it emerges in his discussion of Israel in Romans and elsewhere in the apostle’s theology.

Before arriving at Campbell, Dr. Dixon taught as Part-time Lecturer at Rutgers University and at Princeton Theological Seminary, with courses in New Testament, apocalyptic literature and movements, Greek, and Hebrew. His classes will continue to focus on New Testament, Greek, and biblical exegesis. He has served churches in various capacities, including homeless ministry, worship, and pulpit supply. He lives in Buies Creek with his wife and son.
