About

Dr. King-Thiele is Associate Dean for Postgraduate Affairs and Professor and Chair of Internal Medicine. She previously served as Regional Associate Dean for the eastern region of our clinical campuses. She has dual board certification from AOBIM in Internal Medicine and Hospice/Palliative Medicine with 16 years of clinical experience that includes wound care, hyperbaric, hospice, hospitalist, outpatient, ER, and teaching.

She earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Marshall University and her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine at the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine. She had an IM Fast Track internship at Doctors Hospital in Columbus, OH and was the Intern of the Year. She continued with Doctors Hospital for IM Residency where she was Resident of the Year. Dr. King-Thiele went into private practice with Consolidated Medical Specialists in Marysville, OH and then served on the staff at Ohio State University, East and was on faculty with the department of Family Medicine. Upon moving to North Carolina in 2000, she was a partner and director for Eastern Medical Associates, PA in Goldsboro, NC and served Diversified Wound Care/Hyperbaric Center as well as Hospitalist Physician Partners at Johnston Memorial Hospital in Smithfield, NC.

Dr. King-Thiele joined the founding CUSOM faculty in 2012 as Clinical Associate Professor, Chair of Internal Medicine, and Director of Foundations in Medical Practice Evidence Based Medicine. She also serves as the Director of Medical Education at Sampson Regional Medical Center in Clinton, NC, is an Emergency Medicine Specialists for Wayne Memorial Hospital in Goldsboro, NC, and has had alternating directorship responsibilities for 3HC of Goldsboro, NC since 2005. She has served as a Nurse Practitioner Preceptor for the East Carolina University College of Nursing and as Clinical Family Medicine Preceptor for East Carolina University.

She is Hyperbaric Certified, ACLS/BLS-recertified, and Credentialed for Central Venous Access, Intubation.

She is a Fellow in the Academy of the College of Internal Medicine ( FACOI). She is Board Certified Internal Medicine 1998, Recertified 2008; Board Certified Hospice/Palliative Medicine 2011 and Hyperbaric Medicine. She is a member of the American Osteopathic Association, American College of Osteopathic Internists, American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine, and the NC Osteopathic Association.

Dr. King-Thiele lives in Goldsboro with her husband, son, and dog they rescued from the pound. She loves the ocean and can be found seaside with her family in her spare time.
