Nicole Rushing is a licensed psychologist and faculty member in Campbell University's psychology department. She earned her Ph.D. and M.S. in Clinical Psychology from Florida State University and her B.A. in Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Dr. Rushing completed her predoctoral internship in clinical psychology at the VA Gulf Coast Veterans Health Care System in Biloxi, Mississippi.
Dr. Rushing first joined the Campbell University faculty in 2016 and teaches a range of courses including Abnormal Psychology, Psychological Testing, Clinical Psychology, Introduction to Counseling, Psychological Disorders of Childhood, and General Psychology. She has also served as a Psychological Consultant with Disability Determination Services and previously was an Assistant Professor of Psychology at Coastal Carolina University.
In addition to teaching undergraduates, Dr. Rushing directs a research lab dedicated to developing and evaluating accessible tools to measure and support adults’ cognitive and emotional well-being. Her areas of expertise include neurocognitive screening, psychosocial risk factors for cognitive decline, critical thinking assessment and educational interventions, the disability determination process for mental impairments, and adult mental well-being. She values interdisciplinary collaboration across the university, and in her spare time, enjoys reading, traveling, and cheering on her sons at the baseball field.
