About
Dr. Marcantonio joined the faculty of the Divinity School in 2025 after completing her doctorate and teaching at Duke University. She previously studied at Princeton Theological Seminary and Wheaton College (IL). Passionate about theology, music, and the church, Dr. Marcantonio asks how we understand God through hymns and other media in her academic work. She often focuses on early Christianity in the eastern Mediterranean region but also extends these questions to the church and world today. She desires to bridge the gap between scholarship and the pews so that each can be enriched and so that the church might learn more about who God is and how God works in the world. Dr. Marcantonio teaches introductory courses on Christian History and tradition as well as courses focused on women across Christian tradition, heresy, and relationships between church and political power.
