Bonnie Brenseke

Bonnie Brenseke, DVM, PhD, DACVP is Biomedical Chair of Pathology. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree from North Carolina State University and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from NCSU College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Brenseke completed an Anatomic Pathology Residency at the Veterinary Teaching Hospital located on the Virginia Tech campus. Her residency training culminated in the passing of the rigorous exam to attain board certification and Diplomate status by the American College of Veterinary Pathologists. She then served as Chief Pathology Resident, performing diagnostic services for the hospital while also completing work towards a PhD. She earned her PhD from Virginia Tech with her research that explored the relationship between maternal nutrition, fetal health, and the development of chronic diseases. During her time in Virginia, she instructed 4th year veterinary students in their rotation through the pathology services, led lectures in the graduate level Cellular Pathology course, and took classes in education to attain the Future Professoriate Graduate Certificate. At Campbell, Dr. Brenseke works in the medical school where she leads the histology portion of the Anatomy Course and serves as Course Director for Pathology and the Endocrine System. She has presented at several professional meetings and has published in multiple peer-reviewed journals. Her research is focused on disease recognition and prevention.
